We are thrilled to announce that the Ross-on-Wye & District Cycling Club has officially donated a brand-new public bike pump to the town.
Back in April 2023, we reached out to the Ross-on-Wye Town Council with a simple goal: we wanted to give something back to our local community. Thanks to your ongoing membership subscriptions and the success of our club events, we had raised surplus funds. We put the decision to a member survey, and the consensus was clear—a public bike pump for everyone to use was the perfect way to invest those funds.
After the Town Council secured the necessary licensing from Herefordshire Council, the pump was successfully installed and is now fully operational. You can find it right next to the flower bed on Gloucester Road.
Our Treasurer, Richard Wilson, summed up the club's feelings perfectly: “Ross-on-Wye and District Cycling Club is very pleased to donate a bike pump to the town. We hope that it will get a great deal of use, not only by people who live in Ross, but also by the many cyclists who pass through.”
We also received a great message of support from Duncan Rowe, the Town Council’s Operations Manager, who noted: “The bicycle pump is a great community asset and we thank the club for their kind donation to the town.”
Next time you are rolling down Gloucester Road and feeling a bit soft in the tyres, pull over and give the new pump a try. A massive thank you to all of our members whose dues and event participation made this possible!
